The Cooper Union School of Art is offering small, student-led tours to prospective students of the School of Art classrooms, studio spaces and facilities. Your guide will speak about their experience as a Cooper Union student, and will talk briefly about the School of Art Admissions requirements. Space is limited, and is first come, first serve.
The School of Art holds a series of open houses in the fall, at which prospective students bring portfolios for review and have the opportunity to learn more about the school from faculty, students and alumni. The open house consists of an orientation, a guided tour of the facilities and an individual portfolio review by faculty or alumni of the School of Art.
PLEASE NOTE: The Friday open houses occur at a different time than the Saturday/Sunday open houses! Friday open houses begin at 4pm; Saturday and Sunday open houses begin at 12pm.
Upon arriving at The Cooper Union, please report to The Great Hall in The Foundation Building located at 7 East 7th Street. At check in, each student will receive a number indicating the order in which portfolios will be reviewed. Reviews are handled on a first come, first served basis depending upon the number you receive during check in.
Please bring review materials in their original format, not a digital copy. (If the original format is digital, then that is fine). Please download anything online beforehand as Wi-Fi service can be spotty. You are not limited in number or size regarding materials you may bring in for review.
Tour the School of Engineering at 41 Cooper Square with a current engineering student. An admissions representative will speak to you briefly beforehand about admissions requirements.
The full experience takes approximately 1.5 hours. Please meet in the lobby of 41 Cooper Square.
